Notes from Terry

I would just like to tell you a little about Peru, so you can pick the trip that you will enjoy the most. In 1993, I went to Peru without knowing very much about the country except that the Andes were there, and I was going to climb as many of the highest and hardest peaks I could.  It was all about the mountains!!!

On that first trip to Peru, it hit me how much different it was in this other side of the world.  On that trip, I went through some small villages on my way to climb and I did not have anything to give to the beautiful little Quechua  children.  Since that trip I have been taking down 100 coloring books and 100 boxes of colors to give to those children on my way to a climb or a trek. Just a little gift means so much to a young child.  My first trip changed  my life because I learned how people can enjoy life with so little.

During all these 13 years that I have visited Peru, I realized that the Inca ruins, Spanish heritage, and other cultural attractions are nothing compare to the people and their hospitality which makes Peru even more wonderful. 

Finally, I will like to ask each of you to donate coloring books, crayons, stuffed toys, or any small toy to participate on our giving circle for the Peruvian Children.

This effort will not only bring joy to the children, but also it will be a heart- warming experience for you.
